Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic and public talker. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency, a web site that features videos and comments discussing the depictions of females in pop media. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic who has been awarded awards in her field, is a feminist blogger. She was the co-creator and executive director of Feminist Frequency, a not-for-profit educational website which explores the portrayals of women in pop stories of culture. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they are portrayed in popular culture. Furthermore, she strives to bring awareness to online harassment directed at women, as well as other marginalized groups of individuals. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in Political and Social Thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she is extremely sought-after and has given talks at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She has been interested in female issues as well as feminism from an early age. When she was in 2009, she was still studying at the university level, she launched the website Feminist Frequency. The site was about to launch a series of online videos that examined the game's gender-based representations at the time she came under the sway of harassment online. The incident did not deter her, rather it bolstered the determination of feminist media critic. Her numerous contributions to the field of feminists are recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winner for her media criticism and is the director of Feminist Frequency an educational organization that explores the representations of women in popular culture and the narratives that surround them.
